Daesh Kills 32 Syrians Picking Truffles, U.S. Base in Dayr al-Zawr Hit

DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – Daesh terrorists have killed 32 people who were picking desert truffles in the province of Hama, Syrian media reported.
The director of a hospital in the city of Salamiyah confirmed that the bodies of 26 victims had been transported to the hospital.
Mushroom pickers in Syria often become victims of planted mines and terrorist attacks. In March, a truck carrying people to pick desert truffles struck a mine planted by Daesh terrorists. A source said that several mines exploded at the moment when the truck was passing by, killing seven people and injuring 63. In February, more than 50 Syrians picking truffles were killed by Daesh terrorists in the eastern province of Homs.
Truffles grow in the dry desert areas of Syria where militants tend to hide. They plant mines around their shelters and launch ambushes on military patrols and locals. Terrorist groups have left explosives in fields, along roads, and in buildings, killing hundreds of civilians and injuring thousands more.
The United Nations estimates that more than 10 million people in Syria live in areas contaminated by explosive hazards.
Meanwhile, local sources in Syria reported that several massive explosions hit a U.S. occupation military base in Dayr al-Zawr in the east of the country.
Unconfirmed Syrian sources reported on Sunday night that the explosions hit one of the largest U.S. military bases, the Conoco gas field, in Dayr al-Zawr. Some news sources also reported that the U.S. coalition forces targeted a drone over the base at the same time.
The Conoco gas field has been targeted several times before, and last week, a rocket attack targeted the base resulting in no information about losses inside the occupation. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that a rocket strike targeted U.S.-led coalition forces in Syria, resulting in no casualties or coalition property.
