Assad Decorates Outgoing Iranian Ambassador
DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – President Bashar al-Assad has awarded outgoing Iranian ambassador to Damascus Mahdi Sobhani with the Order of Civil Merit of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The medal was presented by the Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Sousan in a farewell ceremony held at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, SANA reported.
Sobhani received the award for his efforts in developing Syria-Iran relations and for his dedication to carrying out his duties as his country’s ambassador to Syria.
Sousan praised Sobhani’s important role in consolidating relations between the two countries and expressed his high appreciation for Iran’s support for Syria during the war.
Sobhani expressed his gratitude to Assad for granting him the medal, saying that Syria-Iran relations are deep and strategic.
