Turkmenistan, Iran Resume Traffic at Bajgiran Border Crossing

MASHHAD – Head of the representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran in Khorasan Razavi Muhammad Beheshti hass said that the traffic of Iranian trucks to Turkmenistan has been resumed at the Bajgiran border crossing point of Ghuchan city in Razavi Khorasan Province after three years.
Beheshti said that the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan has announced that 10 trucks are allowed to enter the country from the Bajgiran border point in order to invigorate trade ties between the two states.
The traffic of trucks has been stopped for three years due to COVID-19 restrictions. Following the resumption of traffic at Bajgiran crossing, all border crossing points between Iran and Turkmenistan are active now, and the transfer of goods and passengers via roads, railway, and sea are available.
According to the Iranian official, the weight of the trucks should not be more than 20 tons and their traffic must end up in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan’s capital city.
Javad Hedayati, General Manager of the Road maintenance and transportation organization, told IRNA on Wednesday that all infrastructure is prepared for traffic through the Bajgiran border crossing, and the Iranian tradesmen are waiting for exporting commodities.
Razavi Khorasan Province has 531 kilometers of borderline with Turkmenistan in the north and northeast of the province along with cities such as Ghuchan, Dargaz, Kalat, Sarakhs, and Salehabad.
The Bajgiran border crossing point is located 35 kilometers south of Ashgabat.
