Pakistan, Iran Ink Electricity Exchange Contract in Tehran
TEHRAN – Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian and Pakistani Energy Minister Khuram Dastgir Khan on Monday signed an electricity contract.
During the signing ceremony, the Iranian energy minister expounded on the significance of development of relations with neighboring countries and the need for positive cooperation and interaction to be established between the two friendly countries.
He put the current value of trade exchanges between Iran and Pakistan at over $2 billion.
While elaborating on measures taken by Iran in the electricity diplomacy field, Mehrabian said that Iran’s power grid connection to neighboring states will first promote stability of the network, which is considered as an infrastrucure for the supply of sustainable electricity.
Measures such as the connection of Iran’s power grid to countries like Turkey, Russia and other neighboring states have either been carried out or are underway, he added.
