Leader: Imports Crippling Iran’s Economy
TEHRAN (Kayhan Int’l) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Monday warned of the threat of imports and smuggled goods to the Iranian economy.
"The pressure of imports is crippling the country. Regarding the amount of the smuggled goods, there is talk of very odd numbers. Nevertheless, it’s not logically justified to open the door to the flood of imports under the pretext of checking smuggling and receiving customs proceeds,” the Leader told officials. "See to it that the products of talented, faithful, capable and occasionally genius youths of the country are not overtaken by imports.”
