Two Police Officers Martyred by Criminals

TEHRAN -- Terrorists ambushed and martyred two Iranian policemen on patrol in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan, IRNA news agency reported on Saturday.
The officers had been “on a mission to provide security” during Friday prayers in the town of Golshan when they came under attack, it said.
Clashes ensued and led to the “martyrdom” of Lieutenant-Colonel Mohsen Pudinehi and Lieutenant Ehsan Shahraki at the hands of “criminals”.
In the past, Iranian officials have warned of plots by the enemies to create chaos in Sistan-Baluchestan, urging vigilance in the face of such efforts.
They have said the enemies would commit every crime and carry out whatever move to disrupt security and create chaos in the province.
Zahedan is the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province which is home to Iran’s Baluch minority.
The region has been the scene of riots instigated by the enemies of the Islamic Republic, but their attempts to trigger an ethnic sedition in the region have fallen flat.
The province has witnessed several terror attacks targeting both civilians and security forces in recent years.
Terrorist groups carrying out attacks against Iranian interests in southeastern and southwestern parts of the country have known links to a number of repressive regimes in the Persian Gulf region.
