Pakistani, Iranian Officials Discuss Cultural Cooperation

TEHRAN -- The head of Iran’s Culture House in Lahore held talks with the director general of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Department of Pakistan’s Punjab Province on cooperation in various fields.
Jafar Ronas and the Pakistani official Taher Ridha Bukhari discussed cooperation in organizing Qur’anic programs in the holy month of Ramadan.
Ronas said a Qur’anic group from Iran will travel to Lahore to perform Quran recitation and Tawasheeh programs during the holy month.
Ramadan (which is likely to start on March 23 this year) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar in which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. The Qur’an was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.
Bukhari hailed the plan for the Iranian Qur’anic group’s visit and expressed hope that a large number of people in Lahore can benefit from the Qur’anic programs.
Ronas also invited the Pakistani official to visit the upcoming Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition accompanied by a Qur’anic artist.
Organizing international Quran competitions in Pakistan with the cooperation of Iran, which has good experiences in this area, was another issue the two sides discussed.
Bukhari also lauded efforts made by the Iranian Culture House in Lahore to promote the Persian language in Pakistan, saying the language is one of major common grounds between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, Bukhari gifted a number of books to the Iranian cultural official.
