‘The Boot’ to Compete at Mumbai Festival

TEHRAN -- Iranian short animation ‘The Boot’ has been shortlisted in the 2023 competition lineup of the Mumbai International Cult Film Festival (MICFF) in India.
Seyyed Mohsen Pourmohseni Shakib’s animation ‘The Boot’ will present Iran at the best animation short category of the Indian event, iFilm reported.
A brief synopsis of the animation says, “A bird in a war-torn city, where there is nothing left but dead bodies, seeks food to feed its baby birds...”
‘The Boot’ has recently participated in the Oscar-qualifying El Festival Internacional de Cine de Lebu (FICIL) in Chile, the 49th Student Academy Awards, the 37th Guadalajara Int’l Film Festival in Mexico, the 24th Izmir International Short Film Festival in Turkey, the 2023 Mesa Int’l Film Festival in the US as well as the 2022 Animayo: The Int’l Film Festival of Animation, Visual Effects and Video Games in Spain.
The flick is also the nomination winner of the Golden Unicorn at the 37th Alpinale Short Film Festival in Austria.
The Mumbai International Cult Film Festival (MICFF) is “A celebration of art, emotions and the everlasting magic of the movies,” as put by the online submission platform of the event.
The MICFF focuses on the people, ideas, technology, skills and artistry behind filmmaking and provides both entertaining and educational opportunities to the public and filmmakers from all over the world.
The latest edition of the Indian screening event is set for March 14-15, 2023.
