Tehran International Book Fair Location Under Consideration
TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister Yaser Ahmadvand said that at the moment, Mosalla (Grand Prayer Ground) of Tehran is a more convenient place for hosting the upcoming 34th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).
Speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 22nd Printing Industry Festival in Tehran on Tuesday, Ahmadvand who is also the director of the 34th Tehran International Book Fair added that however, the condition of the second candidate, Shahr-e Afatab (Sun City) for holding the event planned for May 10 to 20 is also improving.
“Earlier, we had a correspondence with Tehran’s City Council as well as Tehran Municipality and we described the prerequisites for holding the book fair such as the roofed space and other services we need,” he stated.
“In a letter that we sent to Tehran Municipality in summer, we noted that if they want to host an exhibition in Shahr-e Aftab, the conditions of this complex should become closer to ours and we can also visit there, the Cultural Affairs Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance said.
Referring to holding the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair in Mosalla, the official added that compared to the past few months, the situation of Mosalla has improved.
Ahmadvand also explained about the guest of honor of the 34th TIBF: India, Turkey and Tajikistan are the main candidates, but the process has yet to be decided and will be finalized in a meeting with the ambassadors of those countries next week.
