Iran Beat Chile 25-24 In 1st Handball World Cup Match
TEHRAN – Iran national handball team beat Chile in their first 2023 Handball World Cup match, which was a historical victory.
The 28th 2023 Handball World Cup competitions are hosted jointly by Poland and Sweden, from January 11 to 18 and 32 teams are competing in it.
Iran’s first match began at 8:30 pm local time, in Krakuff city of Poland versus Chile, one of the good teams in these competitions.
The Iranian handball athletes won the first half of the game 13-11, but in the second half they were three points behind, but in a nice come back, the won the match 25-24.
The Iran national handball team in their A Group is to play against Spain and Monte Negro after their Thursday night won-game before Chile.
This is the 2nd time that the Iranian team is participating in the World Cup, and their first presence was in 2015 Qatar Handball World Cup, when they ranked 21st among 24 participating teams.
Chile now ranks 30th in the world, but in 2019 World Cup ranked 16th.
Mohammad Siavoshi was selected Player of the Match as he helped Iran beat Chile 25-24 in 2023 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship.
Siavoshi made the most crucial of his total of 17 saves right at the end, ensuring he ended his performance with a 43% save rate.
Veselin Vujovic’s side will meet Montenegro and Spain on January 14 and 16, respectively.
On Saturday, January 24, at 8 pm in their 2nd match the Iranian team will face Monte Negro, which ranked 22nd in 2013 World Cup, but is attending these matches with a very young, different team.
The 28th edition of the IHF Men’s World Championship is being held in Poland and Sweden from January 11 to 29.
