Iran FM in Oman With President Raisi’s Message

MUSCAT (Dispatches) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian held talks with Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq here on Wednesday and delivered an official message from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
The top Iranian diplomat also planned to hold meetings with other senior Omani officials later Wednesday.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian arrived here Tuesday for talks on various regional and international issues, and to convey President Raisi’s message.
“Tehran and Muscat have always held mutual consultations on regional and international issues of interest,” Amir-Abdollahian said.
The minister described Oman as the “epicenter” of regional talks, saying Muscat has always played a “benevolent role” whether with regard to Iran or concerning resolution of various regional crises.
“Omani officials have invariably played a positive and constructive role in converging” various sides’ views and also towards enabling them to reach final agreements, he said.
Amir-Abdollahian described his underway visit as an opportunity for examination of the countries’ mutual affairs, and also a chance for assessment of issues “that have to be addressed at a faster pace.”
He said his visit was an opportunity to review ties between Iran and Oman and to follow up on bilateral agreements that need to be sped up.
According to the top diplomat, the crises in Yemen, Afghanistan, and Ukraine were among the issues that were to be addressed during his sojourn in Oman.
Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi travelled to Tehran at the head of a ranking delegation last month to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.
He held two rounds of talks with his Iranian opposite number, and also met with the Iranian president.
