MP: Refinery Reconstruction Proves Iran’s Knowledge-Based Improvement
TEHRAN - Member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament Shahryar Heydari has said that the renovation of overseas refineries, increase of production in the South Pars Gas Field, and selling catalysts to Russia indicate the improvement of the knowledge-based oil industry in Iran.
Heydari said that that Iran has always been targeted by illegal and cruel sanctions in particular since 2011 when the West imposed sanctions on its oil and gas industry, but the Iranian authorities and managers stood firm and fought the illegal sanctions.
The production working group was formed for the first time by the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology in 2018 following the withdrawal of the Trump administration from the 2015 nuclear deal and re-imposition of sanctions on Iran.
Heydari pointed to the issue of self-sufficiency and independence as a crucial matter for the Islamic Republic, noting that the production of strategic equipment for the oil and gas industry is of great importance for the country because Iran needs to minimize the level of dependency on other countries.
Therefore, the Islamic Republic pursued the way of independence by the usage of domestic and knowledge-based capacities of its engineers to achieve the goal of self-sufficiency, he said.
Iran has succeeded in renovating certain refineries in Venezuela and other countries as part of its efforts to advance knowledge-based industry, he noted, urging serious support by the administration and parliament for the knowledge-based companies in the Islamic country to expand their innovations.
