‘The Opposition’ Participates at Bangladeshi Event
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iranian feature ‘The Opposition’ has found its way to the 2023 Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.
Directed by Amir-Abbas Rabiee, the flick will be among the 45 works to compete at the Cinema of the World program of the 21st edition of the Bangladeshi festival.
‘The Opposition’ is a political drama that revolves around some events that happened in 1981. The film narrates a love story in the heart of all those events. This love will come to the surface once again after several years.
In the 40th edition of the Fajr Film Festival in Iran, the film won two awards for Best Set Design and Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Some 200 films from 60 countries will compete at the DIFF in the following categories: Asian Competition Section, Retrospective, Bangladesh Panorama, Cinema of the World, Children’s Film, Short and Independent Film, Women Filmmakers Section, and Spiritual Films Section.
The festival’s website states the DIFF is a bold expression of resistance against the decadence, vulgarity and cheap commercialism that pervades the mainstream Bangladesh film industry.
The 21st edition of the Dhaka fest is scheduled for January 14-22, 2023.
