Iran’s ‘The King of Hearts’ Passes Away

TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Mohammad-Ali Shirazi, an Iranian poet and lyricist died of severe lung problems and cardiac arrest in a Tehran hospital on Friday. He was 81.
Mohammad-Ali Hafez al-Ketab known as Muhammad-Ali Shirazi (1941-2022), who was born in the city of poetry Shiraz, composed memorable poems and lyrics such as the very famous song ‘The King of Hearts’ which will last in the minds of Iranian people.
He was also active in the field of composing soundtracks such as the title song of the TV series ‘Under the City Sky’ among others.
The late Shirazi was one of the few poets who wrote various poems in praise of nature and environment safeguarding, for example, the song ‘Dedicated to Birds’.
Ironically, he died of serious lung problems possibly due to air pollution in Tehran these days and no longer breathes under the city sky.
