Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s National Freestyle Wrestling Team has defeated Japan in the World Cup competitions in the United States.
Iranian athletes beat their Japanese rivals 9-1 on Saturday.
It was the second match contested by the Iranian team at the Men’s and Women’s Freestyle World Cup in Coralville, Iowa, held on December 10-11. The top five countries who have qualified for the 2022 Men’s Freestyle World Cup are the United States, Iran, Japan, Georgia, and Mongolia.
Qualifying countries are determined based upon the overall team results from the Senior World Championships events held earlier each year. The 2022 Senior World Championships were held in Belgrade, Serbia in September. The 2023 Senior World Championships will be hosted in Russia.
