Tehran Observes ‎Iqbal Lahori Birth Anniversary

TEHRAN (IBNA) -- On the occasion of commemorating the 145th birthday anniversary of Allama ‎Iqbal Lahori at a ceremony, President of ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) Murodjon ‎Buriboev said literature is the glorious banner of ECO nations.‎
In this ceremony which was held by ECI and Pakistan’s Embassy in Tehran , the book ‘Iqbal in the ‎Contemporary Persian World: Analytical Historical Bibliography of Iqbal Studies in Iran ‎from 2012 to 2022’ published by ECI was also unveiled.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal Lahori, the South Asian Muslim writer, philosopher, and politician, whose poetry in the Urdu language is considered among the greatest of the twentieth century.
Buriboev said at the event that Literature plays a pivotal role in strengthening ties among ECO member countries and referred to Allama Iqbal Lahori: “He is one of the most brilliant literary personalities of the East, who skillfully nurtured the language and culture of the civilized lands of the ECO region.”
“Allama Iqbal’s shining spirit, which is full of passion and love, has penetrated the hearts of admirers. He is the poet of all ages and generations, and his thoughts cannot be restricted in the realm of a specific territory.” He added
Following the event, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Iran, Rahim Hayat Qureshi also stressed: “Allama Iqbal gave a unique touch to the art of poetry and imbibed his political and religious thoughts to inspire the dejected and downtrodden Muslims of the subcontinent.”
Pointing out that Allama Iqbal’s concept of Khudi as well as the concept of love is prominent in contemporary Persian poetry, he added: “Iran is a country that was at the center of Iqbal’s philosophy and cast an indelible impression on his life and work.”
