Iran Takes Part at Bologna Children’s Book Fair

TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Iran’s Book and Literature House Institute issued a call inviting Iranian ‎publishers and book activists to participate at the 60th Bologna Children’s Book Fair ‎‎(BCBF) scheduled for March 6 to 9 2023. ‎
All active Iranian publishers, print industry unions, cultural institutes, literary agents and children’s books illustrators have been addressed by the Book and Literature House institute to register for the event.
Registration for attending Iran’s stand at the 60th Bologna Children’s Book Fair will continue to November 11 on the website: ketab.ir.
The deadline for submitting the list of appropriate children’s books as well as catalogs and brochures is December 1. Also those interested may send the original books not later than January 10 to the Book and Literature House Institute. The books must be published by the permission of Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
Since 1963, BCBF is held yearly for four days in March or April in Bologna, Italy. It is the meeting place for all professionals involved with creating and publishing children’s books, and is mainly used for the buying and selling of rights, both for translations and for derived products like movies or animated series.
It is also the event where a number of major awards are given, the BolognaRagazzi Awards, in four categories (Fiction, Non-fiction, New Horizons (for the non-Western world) and Opera Prima (for first works).
During the fair, but separate from it, some major awards are announced, including the biannual Hans Christian Andersen Awards and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.
