“From various aspects such as economic volume, number of activists, the volume of production and level of influence, the book industry is the largest cultural industry in the country. We in Iran’s Book and Literature House as the center which records statistics and information on books in the country can provide explanations on this issue,” he said.
From an economic point of view, based on statistics 65,000 billion rials books have been sold Some of these statistics have not been announced due to under-reporting or lack of reporting. In terms of the number of activists and centers active in the field of books and reading, this industry is still the forerunner.”
“For example, more than six thousand librarians are active in the public libraries of the country.
Also, last year, we had over 5000 active publishers in the country, and the information of more than 28,000 literati has been registered in the data bank of Iran’s Book and Literature House,” he pointed out.
