President: Enmities Will Not Derail Iran’s Progress
TEHRAN – President Ebrahim Raisi said Wednesday Iran will powefurlly continue the path of progress, justice and resistance.
In a meeting with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, the president stressed the need for full implementation of agreements between the two countries.
“Syria, after several years of crisis and conflict and defeat of its enemies, is in a position that it can expand its strategic relationship with Iran to new fields by focusing on economic cooperation,” he said.
The president said the same people who pushed Syria to the crisis are now working against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“When the enemies saw that coups, an imposed war, years of threats, terror, and sanctions could not stop the progress of the Iranian nation, they openly carried out the conspiracy to incite riots against the Iranian nation,” he said.
“Attempts to destabilize Iran are manifestations of the enemy’s anger and desperation to achieve its goals in Iran and the region. These conspiracies will not make the great nation of Iran hesitate in achieving its great goals,” the president added.
Mekdad condemned the terrorist attack at Shah Cheragh shrine, in which 13 Iranian pilgrims were martyred.
He said the strategic relations between Iran and Syria will continue to expand.
“It is obvious that when the enemies of the regional nations are defeated in Syria, they will definitely not have a chance to achieve their goals against the powerful nation of Iran,” Mekdad said.
The Syrian foreign minister also emphasized his country’s commitment and interest in cementing economic cooperation with Iran.
Mekdad is visiting Iran to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian officially greeted Mekdad upon arrival in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon.
