Iran’s role as the prime regional and international troubleshooter has once again frustrated the devilish designs of troublemakers in the southern Caucasus and in the recent scattered incidents of riots in few places in the Islamic Republic, with a short visit to Tehran of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia and his key talks with President Hojjat al-Islam Seyyed Ibrahim Raisis, immediately after attending a trilateral summit in the Black Sea resort of Sochi with the presidents of Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Islamic Republic stands for peace, security, stability, freedom, territorial integrity and independence, not just in its internal affairs, but also in the region and on the international scene as is evident by its earnest efforts to remove tension created between its two northwestern neighbours by super terrorist US and the illegal Zionist entity.

This principled policy has not been lost on the free world which views the Islamic Republic of Iran as the vital factor for countering the mischief of the US and its terrorist clients, and this is among the reasons both Yerevan and Baku look towards Tehran for settlement of differences.

President Vladimir Putin of Russia took the important initiative of hosting his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliev and the Armenian Prime Minister for a joint meeting on Monday to pave the path towards peace, as could be gauged by the concluding statement:

“Baku and Yerevan have agreed not to use force and to settle all disputes solely on the basis of recognition of mutual sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

This was indeed a result of Iran’s resolute diplomacy which has made crystal clear to all sides that a lasting solution means no change to the internationally-defined borders, coupled with firm resolve to thwart the seditious moves of Washington and its comrades-in-crimes.

As a follow-up, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian, who last month opened the Islamic Republic’s consulate in the city of Kapan in the southern Armenian province of Syunik to send a decisive message to all troublemakers of Tehran’s decision to ensure the safety of this vital corridor, held telephone talks with his Azeri and Armenian counterparts on mutual ties and regional issues.

At the same time, the Armenian prime minister landed in Tehran Tuesday to brief the Iranian president of what transpired in Sochi, with the words: “We emphasize and appreciate Iran’s firm positions in terms of ensuring regional security and stability. I told Mr. Raisi about the results of yesterday’s trilateral meeting and shared my impressions about the agenda and current processes for establishing stability and peace in the region.

“We consider it important that our Iranian partners are informed about what is happening in the context of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, in the context of Armenia-Turkey relations, in the context of the settlement of the Karabagh issue.”

The Iranian president’s response indicates Tehran’s firmness against any outside meddling, when he said: “The Caucasus region is a civilizational and cultural part of Iran’s historical past, and we are very sensitive towards the region. Security and peace in the region is very important for the Islamic Republic. During talks with Mr. Pashinyan, we came to the conclusion that the issues and problems of the region should definitely be solved through the leaders of the countries of the region. The presence of outside powers not only does not solve any problems, but creates additional problems.”

The Iranian people, who by their multimillion rallies throughout the country over the past few weeks have identified and exposed the recent rioters as traitors and terrorists on the payroll of the US, fully back the government’s policies in the region and beyond, including the Caucasus, from which it is necessary eradicate the American imprint.

And this requires expansion of cultural and commercial ties with both Armenia and the Azerbaijan republic, in such fields as energy, agriculture, water resources, infrastructure development, and the natural environment.

It seems the Americans, the Zionists, and their clients are beginning to learn that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no non-sense policy towards troublemakers, whether inside the country or in the region, and will take the necessary steps to shoot trouble in its bud.
