The Montecatini International Short Film festival (MISFF) is one of the national panorama’s most representative Italian film festivals and is known as one of the oldest short film festivals in the world. The Film Festival takes place in Montecatini Terme, a city with a historical vocation to the Arts, Music, and Cinema. The Cinema history in Montecatini Terme has ancient origins, dating back to 1926. Over the years, many personalities from the world’s national and international Cinema have alternated in Montecatini: Federico Fellini, Ugo Tognazzi, Vittorio Gassman, Nanni Moretti, Claudia Cardinale, and Marcello Mastroianni. Over the years, the festival has earned a solid reputation, awards, and prestigious recognitions that make it a real international point of reference, a springboard for many cinematographers, directors, and authors from more than 70 countries. Katvoman, Hadi Sheibani’s first short flick, will participate in a section dedicated to Iranian short films.
Canberra Short Film Festival (CSFF) is an independent, locally run festival run by Australian Short Film Festivals Incorporated, a not-for-profit organization. Now entering our 27th year, this competition-based festival awards filmmakers across ten categories, celebrating their crafts. The event runs for two exciting weeks in venues right across Canberra, the national capital. This is an intimate and fun festival where the audience and filmmakers can connect and exchange ideas easily. Screening sessions are often enhanced with a social component, including forums, Qs, and A’s. CSFF includes a filmmaker networking event to help bring producers, directors, actors, and other craft specialists together. 27th edition of CSFF reserved a particular program for Iranian shorts film this year, and Katvoman, directed by Hadi Sheibani, is among Iranian competitors.
Katvoman, the directorial debut of Hadi Sheibani, won the Best Fiction Film prize at the 35th Festival International du Film Amateur de Kélibia, the oldest film festival in Africa, and had its world premiere at the 20th Molise Cinema Film Festival. Inspired by Catwoman’s character, Katvoman’s short film concerns women’s rights and domestic violence. It is written in the logline; Catwoman has got rather weak that she cannot save people anymore.
The 73rd edition of the Montecatini International Short Film Festival and the 27th edition of the Canberra Short Film Festival will be held from 2 to 4 November 2022 and 4 to 20 November 2022, respectively.
