Iranians Know No Limits to Protecting Nation
TEHRAN -- Iranians on Sunday attended separate mourning ceremonies and burials across the country to bid farewell to victims of a terrorist attack on the highly revered Shah Cheragh shrine in southern province of Fars.
High-ranking government and military officials together with people from all walks of life took part in a major ceremony at the holy shrine in the provincial capital of Shiraz.
Participants held congregational prayers led by Ayatollah Lotfollah Dejkam, representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in Fars province and Shiraz Friday prayer leader, before six of the victims were laid to rest.
A similar procession was also staged in the nearby city of Yasuj, the hometown of two other victims.
On Saturday, tens of thousands of mourners took part in a mourning ceremony in the northeastern city of Mashhad, which houses the mausoleum of the eighth Shia Imam, Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (AS), to say farewell to the victims of the terrorist attack in Shiraz.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has said perpetrators of Shiraz terrorist attack will surely be punished.
Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s Navy Brigadier General Alireza Tangsiri on Sunday issued a stern warning to the enemies, saying Iranian forces know no limits when it comes to protecting the country’s security.
“We will destroy the security of any party that would try to harm our security and we will nip any threat in the bud by thorough monitoring of its origin,” he told a gathering of the IRGC Navy’s top brass.
Referring to the terrorist attack in Shiraz, he said, “When the enemy found out that its maximum pressure has failed, it embarked on killing our innocent civilians in a despicable and desperate act.”
The Daesh terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
President Ebrahim Raisi said Wednesday that Iran’s security and law enforcement forces, having identified the root causes of the heinous crime in Shiraz, will deliver a decisive response to its architects and operatives.
Tangsiri noted that despite all sanctions and obstacles facing the Islamic establishment during the past 40 years, it has been able to overcome all of them and move forward.
“Therefore, they have launched a hasty media war against our insightful nation ... in order to bar the forward march of our dear nation,” he said.
