Baku, Tehran Keen on Strengthening Cultural Bond
TEHRAN (IRNA) – Senior officials from Iran and Azerbaijan Republic referred to cultural common grounds between the two countries, and urged the need for boosting cultural cooperation.
Iranian Minister of Culture Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili and Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in a meeting in Istanbul on Sunday noted that longstanding historical relations between Iran and Azerbaijan pave the way for further relations in all areas.
The two officials met on the sidelines of the 12th Conference of the Information Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Speaking during the meeting, the Iranian culture minister said that President Ebrahim Raisi stresses the urgency to promote cultural ties with Azerbaijan.
Esmaili noted that a large part of the Iranian population share common language with the people of Azerbaijan.
He believed that dispatching media and cultural delegations would help to the promotion of ties between the two countries.
In the meantime, the Azeri official said that he agreed to all the points mentioned by the Iranian minister.
He said that apart from cultural ties, the two countries also have economic cooperation, in transport, as well as exports and imports of goods.
