Iranian Chess Players Claim 10 Medals in Asian Championship

TEHRAN–Iranian chess players participating in various age groups of the 2022 Bali Asian Chess Championship ended their work winning with a total of ten medals.
The Indonesia Youth Asian Chess Championship in boys and girls’ fields was held in three classes namely the standard, the fast, and the blitz from May 12 to 19 with 456 participants from across Asia.
At the end of the Asian competitions, Salma Haratian from Khorasan Razavi shone well in the under-8-year-old group winning a gold medal in the girls’ group.
Also, in the boys’ group in the same age group, Kian Qoreishi from Tehran won a silver medal and Kurosh Boland-Nazar from Khorasan Razavi won the bronze medal for the under-8-year-old group.
Also in the under-8-year-old group of the boys’ teams, Seyyed Kian Qoreishi and Kurosh Nazar-Bolan won the Asian games’ silver medal.
In the teams’ ranking, the Iranian team stood 3rd After Vietnam and India.
In the last class of the championship, Seyyed Kian Qoreishi in the under-eight-year-old shone well and gained the gold medal, while Kurosh Nazar-Boland in the same age group won the silver medal.
Also, in the team competitions of boys’ under-eight-year group the same two boys gained the silver medal.
In the under-ten-year group, Ramtin Kakavand from Qazvin got the bronze medal.
In the under-sixteen-year group, Sobhan Zahmati from Khorasan Razavi won the silver medal.
In the blitz class of the championship, in the under-twelve-year group, Arshia Mohammadian from Isfahan won the bronze medal in the Asian Championship.
The head coaches of the Iranian chess team are Mohammad-Reza Afshari and Vahideh Savabeiyeh. Both of them were also among the referees of this round of the Asian Chess Championship.
