TEHRAN – Iranian weightlifters Rasoul Motamedi and Reza Dehdar claimed gold and silver medals respectively at the 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Bahrain.
Motamedi snatched the gold medal during the men’s 109 kg weight class of the 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championships.
Earlier in 2021, Motamedi grabbed a gold medal at the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Dehdar lifted 170kg in the snatch and 202kg in the clean and jerk and won a silver medal at the event on Saturday. He won the silver with a total of 372kg in the 102kg category.
Qatari weightlifter Fares El Bakh (171-215-386) won the gold and Uzbekistan’s Sharofiddin Amriddinov (172-196-368) collected the bronze medal.
Elham Husseini in the women’s 81kg and Masoud Chatraei in the men’s 89kg weight class had previously won a gold and a bronze medal, respectively.
The 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championships are being held in Manama, Bahrain from October 6 to 16.
