Persian Translation of Guidebook ‘On Confidence’ Released

TEHRAN (IBNA) --
A guidebook ‘On Confidence’ (2018) from the series of Essay Books by Swiss-born ‎British philosopher and author Alain de Botton has been translated into Persian and ‎published.‎
Stating that confidence is a skill that anyone can learn, the book has been translated into Persian by Safoura Rahbari. Tehran-based Kargadan Publishing which has printed other books by de Botton has also released ‘On Confidence’ in 112 pages.
Despite the confidence we build over time in our field of work, we tend to overlook the primordial need for a more free ranging variety of confidence- one that can serve us in the course of our everyday lives: speaking to strangers at parties, asking someone to marry us, asking someone on the train to turn down their music, changing the world.
This is a guidebook to confidence, why we lack it, and how we can gain more if it in our lives. ‘On Confidence’ walks us gently through key issues that hold us back, and gives us the tools we need to fulfill our potential.
The back cover of the book reads: “The difference between success and failure often hangs on a concept that our standard education system never touches: confidence. ‘On Confidence’ walks us around the key issues that stop us from making more of our potential.
We hear about the impostor syndrome, the wisdom of imagining the great in their bathrooms, and what Nietzsche and Montaigne (among others) have to tell us about resilience and courage. We often stay stuck with the level of confidence we have because we regard being confident as a matter of good luck. In fact, the opposite is true: confidence is a skill based on ideas about our place in the world, and its secrets can be learned.”
