Iran Stresses Right to Defend Against Any Aggression
TEHRAN -- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman on Friday touched on recent strikes against terrorist hideouts in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, saying the Islamic Republic reserves the right to defend its national security in the face of any act of aggression originating in any territory. “As warned before, the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter, reserves the right to defend its national security against any act of aggression coming out from any territory,” Nasser Kanaani said in a statement.
Kanaani said the groups targeted in the operations have conducted acts of terror against Iran and fueled domestic unrest in the country.
The official touched on the angry reactions of the U.S. and Germany to the operations, denouncing their “selective and discriminatory” approach toward fighting terrorism their own intervention acts and violation of the sovereignty of other countries.
