Iran Asks Muslim States to Support Palestine

TEHRAN – An Iranian deputy foreign minister has called on the parliaments of Islamic countries to put plans for supporting Palestine on the agenda of their multilateral cooperation.
In a meeting with the head and members of Nigeria-Iran parliamentary friendship group, held in Tehran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani described Palestine as the “compass of the stability and justice-orientation of the world order”.
“As long as the rights of the Palestinian people are not fully restored, achieving security and materialization of justice will be nothing more than a mirage,” the Iranian diplomat said.
Highlighting the role of parliaments in defining the policies of governments, Baqeri said, “The parliamentarians, particularly in the Islamic countries, must put plans for supporting the Palestinian nation and countering the Zionist regime’s occupation and aggression on the perpetual agenda of their bilateral and multilateral cooperation.”
In a statement released in May on the occasion of the Nakba Day, the Foreign Ministry of Iran stressed the need to address the issue of Palestine as the most important issue of the Muslim world.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes addressing the issue of Palestine, as the foremost and principal issue of the Muslim world, and considers attempts by global Zionism to drive the issue into oblivion to be doomed to failure,” it said.
