Iran’s Astounding Progress in the Face of Gravest Crises

What would be the fate of a country, or more properly its system of government, if its president and prime minister were killed in a single blast a couple of months after a similar terrorist bomb explosion had left dead the Judiciary Chief, along with over 70 prominent officials, including cabinet ministers and members of parliament, and that too in the midst of a war where enemy forces were on the march backed by the world’s powerful and rich nations?
“Collapse and total chaos” might be the words that immediately come to the minds of analysts as well as the people and politicians of other countries.
This is what happened in Iran in 1981, only two years after the overthrow of the previous ‘internationally-supported’ regime, but the Islamic Republic did not collapse, neither the country was plunged into chaos, nor were its armed forces on the battlefronts defeated by the invading forces of Baghdad’s brutal Ba’th regime.
For the past 41 years since then, Iran has gone from strength-to-strength with peace and stability prevailing all over the country which never saw imposition of any kind of emergency during these crises that had no negative effect on the various elections held for the parliament, the presidency, and other public representative bodies, while its combatants triumphed at the war theatres and its influence spread all over the region, even in the heart of the aggressor country, simultaneous with its scientific-technological progress that made it self-reliant in the field of defence, helped it master the nuclear fuel cycle, manufacture medicines of its own, and penetrate into outer space.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s progress in all fields, including culture and humanities, is indeed astounding. This, however, does not mean that the nation should sit on its past laurels or slacken its pace of development.
No, never. It should continue its quest for the pinnacles of progress through increase and diversification of the products of its ever expanding industries to make it completely independent of any imports, including cereals, textiles, and all other necessities.
This was the gist of the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in his meeting with the President Hojjat al-Islam Seyyed ibrahim Raisi and members of the cabinet yesterday on the 41st anniversary of the martyrdom of President Mohammad-Ali Rajai Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar – victims of the American-supported terrorist outfit the MKO, known as hypocrites and traitors for openly siding with Saddam during the 8-year war of the 1980s imposed by the US.
The Leader emphasized social justice, avoiding of luxury, welfare for the deprived, support for the oppressed at home and abroad, and countering the devilish designs of the arrogant powers, as among the principal goals of the Islamic Republic.
He praised the Iranian people as the main heroes of the Islamic Revolution throughout all the past events, saying that this ought to be a lesson to learn from, so as to make the country self-sufficient in each and every field.
