Iran Crowned Champion of 2022 Asian U-20 Volleyball
TEHRAN – Iran have claimed the title of the 2022 Asian Men’s U-20 Volleyball Championship.
Iran defeated the Indian team 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15) in the final match in Riffa, Bahrain on Monday night.
This was the second encounter between the two teams. Iran had defeated India 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-19) in the preliminary round as well.
Iran has seven gold medals in the tournament, the most golds won by any team.
South Korea clinched the bronze medal after thumping Thailand in straight sets (31-29, 25-16, 25-14).
Iran and India also booked their place at the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-21 World Championship.
Iran Defeat Egypt in 2022 FIVB World Championship
Iran defeated Egypt 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 22-25, 26-24) in the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
Iran captain Milad Ebadipour and Morteza Sharifi earned 18 points each and Issa Muhamed Moustafa scored 16 points for Egypt in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Iran, who had already defeated Argentina, will face the Netherlands on Wednesday.
The competition has brought 24 competing teams in six pools of four, playing in a single round-robin format from Aug. 26 to Sept. 11.
The top two nations in each pool and the four best third-placed teams will qualify for the elimination round.
