‘World War III’ Premiered at Venice Event
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iran’s ‘World War III’ has been selected to go on screen at the 79th edition of the Venice International Film Festival in Italy.
Directed by Houman Seyyedi, the movie will compete at the Orizzonti section of the Italian gala.
‘World War III’, written by the director, Arian Vazir-Daftari, and Azad Jafarian, follows Shakib, an ordinary day laborer who finds himself a job behind the scenes of a movie set.
The film is meant to be in condemnation of dictatorships, but the filmmakers themselves turn into dictators who would do anything to achieve their goals and they inadvertently turn Shakib into a terrifying monster.
The cast list of the movie includes Mohsen Tanabandeh, Neda Jebraeeli, Mahsa Hejazi, and Navid Nosrati.
Iranian actress Leila Hatami, best known for her role in the Oscar-winning drama “A Separation”, is a member of the jury of this year’s gala in Venice.
The Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore is the president of the Venice fest jury, which also consists of Argentinian director and screenwriter Mariano Cohn, Italian director and screenwriter Leonardo Di Costanzo, French director Audrey Diwan, Japanese-English screenwriter Kazuo Ishiguro and Spanish director and screenwriter Rodrigo Sorogoyen.
The 79th edition of the Venice International Film Festival will take place on August 31-September 10.
