Avicenna Conference Held in Hamedan
TEHRAN (IRNA) – A conference titled “The Hakim of Millenniums” about Ibn Sina (Avicenna) is scheduled to be held in Hamedan on the birthday anniversary of the great thinker of the Islamic world on August 23, an Iranian official said.
Tavakol Daraei, the chairman of the public relations and international affairs department of Bu Ali Sina Foundation said that some experts in philosophy and Avicennan wisdom are to present their articles concerning the great thinker’s heritage.
The seminar is going to be held with the participation of the association of cultural works and prominent figures and the Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Hamedan Province affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in cooperation with the cultural and executive apparatus at Fajr Hall in Hamedan, he noted.
He also said that seminars were not held in the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Renowned Iranian professors such as Hassan Bolkhari, Najafgholi Habibi, Ghasem Purhassan, Kaveh Khurabeh, Ali-Akbar Orvati, Fereshteh Nadri Abyaneh and Hossein Shams are going to present their articles in the cultural event, the organizer of the seminar said.
Ayatollah Ghiasoddin Taha-Mohammadi, the head of Bu Ali Sina Cultural and Scientific Foundation, is scheduled to make a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference.
Ibn Sina was born in Bukhara in August 980 and passed away at the age of 57 in Hamedan on June 22, 1037. He was a Persian polymath who is regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, philosophers, and writers of the Islamic Golden Age, and the father of early modern medicine.
