Poll: Kuwaitis Endorse Boycott of Zionist Regime, Reject Normalization

KUWAIT CITY (Dispatches) – A recent opinion poll has shown that most Kuwaitis support boycott of the Zionist regime and reject a normalization of relations with the occupying regime.
The poll has revealed that 95 percent of Kuwaitis oppose any normalization of ties with the regime and 70 percent of the people adamantly disagree with developing any relations with the Zionist regime, Alkhaleej Online reported.
The report added that the Kuwaiti government and people support the Palestinian cause and are maintaining their stance on the issue. Kuwait still supports the so-called two-state solution as the only way to end the conflict, it stated.
Kuwaitis insist on imposing sanctions on the Zionist regime, the report said, adding that Kuwait reaffirmed its stance against the regime by boycotting the regime in sports and trades and banning ships sailing between them or carrying cargo bound for the occupied territories.
No Kuwaiti athlete, politician, intellectual, or writer accepts to be present in one place with Zionists, and they do not participate in any event that includes representatives of the occupying regime, it concluded.
In September 2020, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed U.S.-brokered normalization agreements with the regime. Sudan and Morocco followed suit, triggering a chorus of condemnation among Muslims, with Palestinians calling it a stab in their back.
In May 2021, following the Zionist regime’s 11-day war on the Gaza Strip and its brutal attacks against Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, Kuwait’s National Assembly unanimously approved legislation that outlawed any deals or normalization of ties with the regime.
Kuwaiti legislators also expressed their country’s strong position on the Palestinian cause and its unswerving support and solidarity with the Palestinian nation until they establish an independent sovereign state with East Al-Quds as its capital.
