Imposed Truce Worse Than Imposed War, Say Yemenis

We, and the whole world, all vividly remember the famous words of the Father of the Islamic Revolution when during the 8-year war the US had imposed on Iran in the 1980s, the UN, the big powers, and the Muslim states used to urge Tehran to accept their flawed draft of ceasefire while thousands of square km of Iranian soil was under occupation of the Ba’thist enemy.
“An imposed peace is worse than an imposed war”.
Imam Khomeini’s (RA) foresight saw through the stratagem of an ill-defined truce that never named the aggressor or the initiator of the war, and did not call for war indemnity to be paid to Iran for the destruction of towns, cities, industrial installations, agricultural sector, and mercantile shipping, in addition to the irreparable loss of human life.
Thanks to its resolute spirit of resistance the Islamic Republic of Iran triumphed in the war and got back all its occupied territories, which according to the West’s mischievous plan were to remain a contentious issue between Tehran and Baghdad similar to the chronic question of Palestine.
As a matter of fact, the Islamic Republic serves as the inspiration for West Asia’s formidable Resistance Front and has instilled indomitable resolve in the legal governments and popular liberation movements to stand firm in defence of their rights, without yielding to aggressors who feign peace, while continuing to attack and occupy.
A worthy example in this regard is the Sana’a-based legitimate government of Yemen which in respect for the fasting month of Ramadhan had proposed a temporary truce in the 7-year war imposed by the US and the Zionist regime through Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and then out of humanitarian considerations extended it for a couple of months to test the sincerity of the invaders in ending their attacks and occupation.
This did not materialize and the Saudi-UAE alliance continued its illegal blockade of northern Yemen, along with aerial attacks, while refusing to withdraw their occupation forces.
Now, these insincere aggressors, along with their mercenaries in southern Yemen, are calling for further extension of the ill-defined one-sided truce, with the propaganda support of the US and the Zionist-controlled western media that tries to portray the popular Ansarullah Movement of Yemen as ‘rebels’.
The Yemeni government has rejected the diabolical proposal on condition that the aggressors should first lift the land, sea, and air blockades, discontinue their military attacks, and withdraw from Yemeni soil, or else there will no option for the defenders except to restart their retaliatory missile and drone attacks on the military and industrial installations of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
It is indeed a just and practical solution, and the UN should make the aggressors accept it, instead of prolonging war, bloodshed, and economic destruction on both sides by sending its so-called special envoys, who are not known for their fairness.
