Spokesman Dismisses Zionists’ Threats Against Iran as Psychological Warfare
TEHRAN – The Zionist regime will not dare to attack Iran, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Tuesday, dismissing recent Zionist threats against the Islamic Republic as psychological warfare.
“The Zionist regime’s recent threats are just psychological warfare and this regime has neither the courage nor the capability to confront Iran militarily,” Kanaani said in an interview scheduled to be aired by al-Alam TV channel later.
He stressed that Iran would respond decisively to any Zionist “idiocy.”
“Iran’s response to any idiocy committed by the Zionist regime would be destructive,” Kanaani said.
On Sunday, Zionist army chief Aviv Kohavi said it was Israel’s “moral obligation” to prepare a military response against Iran’s nuclear program, adding that such preparation is “at the center” of the military’s preparations.
His remarks came as U.S. President Joe Biden signed a joint declaration against Iran with the Israeli regime’s acting premier Yair Lapid in the occupied al-Quds on Thursday.
Biden said the U.S. “will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.”
This is while Iran has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued a fatwa (religious decree) against weapons of mass destruction.
Kamal Kharrazi, the head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations and the former foreign minister, in an interview on Sunday rejected allegations that Iran seeks nuclear weapons.
He asserted that the Islamic Republic possesses “technical capabilities”, such as increasing the level of uranium enrichment beyond the current 60 percent, but will not go down that path.
Kanaani also said U.S. President Joe Biden failed to form an anti-Iran coalition in his recent visit to the Middle East as regional countries do not trust the U.S.
Israel Presence in Persian Gulf Leads to Insecurity
Iran’s Defense Minister General Muhammad Reza Ashtiani says the Zionist regime’s presence in the Persiah Gulf region brings nothing but insecurity.
Ashtiani was speaking at a meeting with Commander of Oman’s Navy Admir Saif bin Nasser al-Harby in Tehran.
Ashtiani added that the Zionist regime seeks to legitimize itself by sowing divisions among regional countries. Iran’s defense minister also referred to U.S. President Joe Biden’s recent visit to the West Asia region. He said the trip cannot create stability and lasting security in the region and “we view his visit as provocative.”
Ashtiani maintained that Western governments seek to sell weapons to regional governments by portraying Iran as a threat.
He also noted that Iran and Oman have common strategic, security and economic interests and should constantly hold consultations over defense and military issues.
The defense chief added that maritime cooperation between the armed forces of Iran and Oman has always been the driver of defense ties between Tehran and Muscat and joint naval rescue drills for fighting human and drug trafficking, terrorism and piracy can be diverse.
Ashtiani said Iran’s defense ministry stands ready to transfer technical maritime know-how to Oman.
In the meeting, the commander of Oman’s Navy said extra-regional countries only think about their own interests and that’s why they are in West Asia and the Persian Gulf.
Harby noted that only regional countries must provide security for the region.
He added that many world countries covet this part of the world and security cooperation between Iran and Oman can hinder their negative activity.
