Poets Across Globe Take Part at Tabriz Int’l Turkish Event
TEHRAN (IP) - The second edition of the International Congregation of Ghadir Turkish poem will be held in Tabriz of Eastern Azerbaijan, northwest of Iran, with poets from 5 foreign countries participating in the event.
Dhu al-Hijjah 18 (July 18) is the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir, one of the most important holidays for Shia Muslims.
On such a day, 1433 years ago, Prophet Muhammad observed his last Hajj rituals and, on the way home, stopped and gathered the caravan of the 120,000 pilgrims in a place called Ghadir pool. There, he introduced Imam Ali as the leader (Wali) of the Muslims after him.
The president of Eastern Azerbaijan’s Art Center reported that 850 poems were sent to the congregation, of which Iranian poets sent 650 works and 200 others were sent by foreign poets from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iraq, Germany, and Russia.
According to Mohammad Hossein Balaghi, the works received will be judged within two steps; three poems will be selected from the foreign and Iranian sections. One work also will be selected as the special one.
The international event will be underway from July 12 to 16 for five days.
