TEHRAN – Russian media have reported that their national football team will play a friendly against Iran in August, 2022.
The Russian Football Federation whose country’s team was been banned from competing in the World Cup after Russia-Ukraine war, has also had been faced with problems in arranging for friendly matches.
Now the SE, Russian sports news agency, has reported that the Russian national football team will play two friendly games in August, one of which will be versus Iran.
It is not clear yet whether the friendly will be played in Tehran, or Moscow, but the two countries’ sports federations are negotiating to decide about the host team, that will be announced soon.
The Iranian national football team is currently in a preparation camp in Doha and might also face Algeria as a probable friendly competitor.
