Palestinian Woman Martyred by Zionist Troops

WEST BANK (Dispatches) – A Palestinian woman on Wednesday was martyred by Zionist troops at a checkpoint near al-Aroub refugee camp close to the southern West Bank city of Al-Khalil, said Palestinian medics.
In a press statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that Ghufran Warasneh, a 29-year-old woman from the refugee camp, was martyred after Zionist troops at the checkpoint shot her in the chest.
The Israeli media reported that troops stationed at the checkpoint opened fire at Warasneh, who allegedly carried a knife and tried to stab one of the troops.
Zionist troops at the scene then opened fire at the woman and killed her. No Zionist troops were injured.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said the bullet entered her body under her left arm and exited on the right side.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said the Zionist troops prevented its medical staff from attending to Warasneh, and they managed to do only 20 minutes after her injury.
Meanwhile, a group of Israeli human rights organizations, scholars and members of civil society have formally requested two United Nations special rapporteurs to probe the killing of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
Abu Akleh, a veteran journalist for Al Jazeera, was killed on May 11 by Zionist troops carrying out a military raid in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. Abu Akleh, 51, was wearing a vest marked “PRESS” and a helmet when a bullet pierced her head from the back.
The letter, signed by the rights groups ‘Looking the Occupation in the Eye’, ‘Mothers Against Violence’, and ‘Machsom Watch’, among others, was addressed to the UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Summary or Arbitrary Killings Morris Tidball-Binz and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese.
The Zionist regime has repeatedly been provoking Palestinian Muslim worshipers’ feelings by desecrating the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Al-Quds.
On Sunday, thousands of far-right Zionist settlers stormed Damascus Gate in occupied East Al-Quds to mark the so-called flag march in the Old City.
Zionist settlers chanted racist slogans such as “Death to Arabs,” as they marched through the streets of the old city.
Zionist troops dispersed Palestinian protesters after a splinter group of settlers started waving flags inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Medics said dozens of Palestinians were injured in the occupied West Bank amid confrontations between Palestinians and Zionist troops.
