Long Night, Najan to Vie for Awards in U.S., Spain
TEHRAN -- Iranian short film ‘The Long Night’ has been selected to compete at the 19th edition of the Halloween Horror Picture Show in the U.S.
Directed by Sahar Mirzaeeanfar and written by Kamran Muhammadi, ‘The Long Night’ is a horror film depicting a scary night in a forest.
The cast list of the film includes Kazem Barzegar, Ladan Zhafehvand, Mitra Masaeli, Sarina Zolfaqari, Azhdar Rajab, Tiara Khodadad, Taraneh Khodadad, Hosna Rostami, Sajedeh Rostami, and Evina Zolfaqari.
The short film has previously participated in the 2022 edition of the Panama Horror Film Festival.
Mirzaeeanfar and Muhammadi have another short film titled ‘Blood’ that has so far participated in some 50 festivals and grabbed more than 20 awards.
The Halloween Horror Picture Show provides filmmakers with an opportunity to present their works to fans. It also holds Q&A sessions in which filmmakers can sell their works.
The 2022 edition of the event will be held on May 20-22.
Iranian short film ‘Najan’ will also compete at the Huesca International Film Festival in Spain.
Muhammad-Mehdi Baqeri’s directorial experience will represent Iran at the main competition section of the coming edition of the festival.
‘Najan’ narrates the story of a deaf boy who goes into a forest with his brother to see a tree that is said to fulfill wishes.
Abolfazl Qorbanzade, Sanyar Rafieipour, Fariborz Mansouri and Arsalan Mohammad-Beigi star in the film.
The Huesca International film festival has been founded by Foundacion Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca.
The festival selects a number of film competitors among school works and that’s why it is an opportunity for new talents.
The selected works focus on the themes of interpersonal relationships, family bonds, love and friendship.
The 50th edition of the event will be held on June 10-18, 2022.
