Iran’s ‘Parizad’ En Route to Swiss Event
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) in Switzerland has been slated to play host to Iranian short flick ‘Parizad’.
Directed by Mehdi Imani-Shahmiri, the short doc will be one of the competition titles at the International Competition: Short Films section of the 36th edition of the Swiss fest.
‘Parizad’ has a narrative look towards one of the handicrafts of the women in Chashm Village of Semnan Province.
Golich is a type of Kilim-a type hand-woven floor covering- that is only made in Chashm. The mothers and grandmothers of the village tell some beautiful tales and stories about the art.
The film is about Aunt Keshvar, a lonely rural woman who weaves Golich. She shares information about the role of Golich in the daily life of the villagers and legends about her homeland.
‘Parizad’ has already been screened at a number of global events, including the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in the U.S. and the Festival of Nations in Australia, where it won the best documentary award.
The FIFF aims to use films as a medium for enhancing the inter-cultures’ understanding. The event picks films that promote reflection and discussion.
This year’s edition of the fest is set to be held on March 18-27.
