TEHRAN -- Oman’s foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Wednesday for talks with his Iranian counterpart.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian welcomed Sayyid Badr Albusaidi upon his arrival, with the visit scheduled to focus on bilateral and international affairs, the IRNA news agency said.
The top Iranian diplomat said Tehran-Muscat relations are “on a good path” and hailed political ties as “exemplary and strategic” in the Persian Gulf region.
He said the two countries have agreed to develop trade cooperation, expressing hope that Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi would visit Oman as soon as possible upon an invitation sent by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The Omani foreign minister, for his part, emphasized that political relations between the two countries are based on mutual trust and respect as well as common interests.
He also said that he hopes Raisi will visit Oman in the near future so that the two countries will mark a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.
In his talks with the Omani minister, President Raisi lauded Oman for adopting wise policies.
“Oman’s concern for Palestine, Yemen and regional issues is remarkable,” the president said.
Raisi said Iran’s policy is to promote cooperation with friendly countries, particularly Oman. The president stressed the need for efforts to enhance economic and trade ties between Tehran and Muscat.
The Omani foreign minister praised Iran for supporting its neighbors, saying relations between the two countries which are based upon mutual trust and respect benefit the regional and international security.
