The al-Aqsa Mosque, considered the third holiest site of Islam, has for the past 55 years under the occupation of the illegal Zionist entity, which feels no inhibitions in violating international laws and hurting the sentiments of Muslims by desecrating its sanctity.

Israel, which needs to be erased from the map of West Asia if peace is to prevail in the world, takes advantage of the silence of the United Nations and other international bodies, to imprison, torture, and kill the Palestinian people in addition to destroying their homes and hearths.

Ironically, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), some of whose members are open allies of Israel, issues mere verbal condemnation of the sacrilege at al-Aqsa Mosque, instead of mobilizing Muslim countries for ground action to liberate Bayt al-Moqaddas.

The recent storming of al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (we are unconcerned whether this criminal is far right or far left), has only drawn warnings from OIC, and sanctions on this Zionist terrorist.

Wonder, what sanctions and by whom, when the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, and Morocco among Arab states, and Turkey, the Caucasus republic of Azerbaijan and some Central Asian countries have diplomatic ties with Israel.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia, which in the city of Jeddah has the OIC headquarters, is covertly in league with the Zionist entity, against Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran.

In such a situation, the press statement following an extraordinary meeting of the OIC on Tuesday, on the desecration of the sanctity of al-Aqsa Mosque, fails to check the provocations of the Zionist regime, especially since the OIC urges the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to assume its responsibilities and “act urgently to take the necessary measures.”

It is anybody’s guess that the OIC will ever change its selectivity or double standards, to deter and stop the dangerous Israeli escalation.

What is needed is action, especially ground action, by mobilising the armed forces of the Muslim world, especially by countries that form the Resistance Front, and rightly opposed to the illegal existence of Israel. 

Mere statements are only signs of helplessness of the OIC and the Muslim Ummah, which only embolden Israel and its godfather, the US, to commit more crimes against humanity and offend the sentiments of world Muslims.

Desecration of Islamic and Christian sites in Occupied Palestine will only stop when the cancerous tumour called Israel is eradicated from West Asia.
