IRISL Group Purchases 200 Cargo Wagons
TEHRAN - The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group (IRISL Group) has purchased 200 cargo wagons from domestic manufacturers in a bid to speed up transport services.
The hybrid transportation company known as the M-MTC affiliated to the IRISL Group plans to develop services and find fresh markets; so, it bought the 200 cargo wagons.
The hybrid transportation company of the IRISL Group signed a contract with a domestic firm to manufacture 100 long-edge wagons, to be utilized for transporting mineral and bulk cargos.
As part of the tender, the M-MTC purchased 100 flat wagons from another domestic producer, which are being manufactured.
Every long-edge wagon possesses the capacity of transiting around 68.5 tons of different sorts of goods, which will be very helpful in reducing fuel consumption; so, the use of these wagons would be very effective in preserving environment.
The increase of number of flat wagons will decrease time of transit of cargos and facilitate door-to-door transportation.
The manufacturing of the wagons by Iranian engineers has helped prevent the outflow of capital estimated 14 million euros.
Moreover, the domestic manufacturing of the 200 cargo wagons created direct and indirect job opportunities for 500 people.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group possesses about 1200 wagons for fuel supply and some 732 wagons out of the number are operational at present.
