East Azarbaijan Exports Top $958mn

TABRIZ - The head of the Customs Administration of East Azarbaijan Province said Leila Orangi has said that in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (starting on March 21) one million and 579,000 tons of goods worth $958 million were exported from the Customs of the province.
Orangi said that commodities worth $958 million were exported from the province in the first 8 months of the current Iranian calendar year showing an increase of 24 and 100 percent, respectively in terms of weight and dollar, compared to the same period last year.
She announced that exported data-x-items such as iron and steel products including bars, sheets, pipes, cans and profiles, plastic materials and objects, chemical and petrochemical products as well as dry fruits such as dates, pistachios, raisins plus petroleum products such as bitumen, industrial and mineral oils, copper products such as wired copper pipe, cable, plumbing accessories, and fittings, cereal products such as wafers and biscuits, glass and glass products, machines and mechanical devices.
The official went on to say that the most important export destinations of this province are Turkey with $323 million, Iraq with $230 million, Armenia with $108 million, Azerbaijan Republic with $42 million, Afghanistan with $33 million, Georgia with $32 million, Bulgaria with $28 million, UAE with $21 million, Pakistan with $15 million and Myanmar with $12 million.
The secretary of the East Azerbaijan Border Trade Coordination Headquarters also stated that in the first eight months of this year over 265,000 tons worth more than $822 million worth of goods entered the country through East Azerbaijan Customs showing an increase of 4 and 17 percent, respectively in terms of weight and dollar, compared to the same period last year.
