Iranian Catalyst Saves $6mn
TEHRAN - The CEO of Ilam Petrochemical Company Seyyed Gholam Hassan Garshasbi said on Monday that the company saved Iran $6 million by successfully testing the catalyst made by the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) in its high-density polyethylene unit.
Garshasbi underlined the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding with the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, in line with the policy of supporting domestic and knowledge-based companies, and said: “Ilam Petrochemical Company has successfully tested the catalyst in the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) unit made by PRTC saving $6 million of foreign currency.”
He continued: “This catalyst, while competing with Chinese and Japanese samples, with the advantages of availability, economic efficiency and preventing hard currency from leaving the country, is now used in the heart of the HDPE unit reactor of Ilam Petrochemical Plant.”
Ilam Petrochemical Company’s annual demand for catalysts is about 30 tons. The cost of producing this item inside the country is equivalent to 70% of the cost of the foreign sample.
