Syria Intercepts Zionist Air Raid on Damascus Countryside

DAMASCUS (Dispatches) –
Syrian defense forces have repelled another air raid by the Zionist regime against the countryside of the capital Damascus, shooting down most of the incoming projectiles.
The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported the aerial assault on Friday, citing a “military source.”
According to the source, the occupying regime’s airstrike took place around 23:03 local time.
The raid saw “the Israeli enemy” firing several missiles at the targeted area from the direction of the northeastern side of Lake Tiberias, which is located in the northern part of the Tel Aviv-occupied Palestinian territories, it added.
“The [Syrian] Army’s air defenses intercepted and destroyed most of the fired missiles,” the source further stated, insisting that the attack had only resulted in “material damage.”
Syria and the Zionist regime are technically at war due to the latter’s 1967-to-present occupation of the Arab country’s Golan Heights.
The U.S.-sponsored regime maintains a significant military presence in the Syrian territory, using it as one of its launching pads for attacks against the Arab country.
The regime’s attacks on Syria started to grow significantly in scale and frequency after 2011, when the nation found itself in the grips of rampant foreign-backed terror campaign that sought to overthrow the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
One of the most serious attacks to target the Syrian territory so far this year came on June 10, when the occupying Zionist regime struck the Damascus International Airport, causing the facility to go completely out of service for a period of two weeks.
Syria called on the United Nations and the world body’s Security Council at the time to condemn in clear and explicit terms the regime’s recurrent and often deadly acts of aggression against the Arab country.
