Salman Farsi National Day Honored

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani praised Salman Farsi, a companion of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), on the occasion of Salman Farsi National Day.
The seventh month of Safar is equal to September 4, coinciding with the anniversary of the trench which was being dug around Madinat al-Nabi (PBUH) in the battle of the Ahzab, named as Salman Farsi Day and registered in the national calendar of our country, Kanaani wrote on his Instagram account on Sunday.
He added that faith, knowledge, migration to reach the clear source of truth plus his endeavor in the way of God, are among the characteristics of Salman Farsi.
Salman is the symbol of Iranian love and affection to the Prophet (PBUH) and the family of infallibility and purity (PBUH) so he was worthy of receiving the Medal of Honor of Salman from Ahl al-Bayt, Kanaani further noted.
He underscored that Salman’s genius, the great son of Iran, continues to flow in the veins and blood of great Iran’s children in this ancient land, and the youth of Iran continue to be defenders of the shrine of the Prophet and his family and Islam.
Salman al-Farsi was the first Persian to convert to Islam. He was raised as a Zoroastrian, then converted to Christianity, and then after meeting the Prophet Mohammad, he converted to Islam and played a fundamental role in promoting Muslim unity. After becoming Muslim, Salman grew under the guidance of the Prophet and Imam Ali until he reached the peak of faith and was the best of Ahl al-Bayt’s companions.
