Memorable Days
Salaam dear young friends, and heartiest felicitations on the occasion of memorable and auspicious days in this week and the coming week.
Surely our youngsters along with their families in Tehran have participated on Monday in the 10-kilometer long celebrations of the Day of Ghadeer in Vali-e Asr street (city’s longest street naming in the honor of Imam of the Age, Imam Mahdi – may Allah hasten his reappearance) to pay homage to Imam Ali (AS), Prophet Muhammad’s (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) cousin, son-in-law and his First Infallible successor.
Such celebrations were not limited to Iran’s capital, and young and old had gathered in mosques and hussainiyahs to celebrate this auspicious day.
As we had mentioned last week, Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) proclaimed his dear cousin and son-in-law, Imam Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS), as the divinely-decreed vicegerent, with those immortal words: “For whomever I am Master, this Ali is his/her Master.”
Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) then supplicated to Lord Most High: O Allah! Befriend whoever is a friend of his, and turn away whoever is his enemy; assist whoever helps him and humiliate whoever tries to humiliate him.
Indeed, Ghadeer is the greatest ever day in the annals of human history and civilization
Well, as our friends know, tomorrow is 20th of Zilhijja and according to a narration, Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS), the 7th Infallible successor of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) was born on this day.
Next week on Sunday 24th of Zilhijja, we will celebrate the famous Day of Mubahela. It is the day on which Islam triumphed in a unique manner in a novel debate.
It was in 9 AH that a delegation of Christians of the Yemeni region of Najran (currently under Saudi occupation) came to Medina to debate with Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) on the nature of Prophet Jesus (AS).
It was indeed a grand victory of not only the truth of Islam but of the prime position of the Ahl al-Bayt as the divinely-decreed leaders of the Ummah after the passing away of the Prophet.
A further proof of the majesty of the Ahl al-Bayt was revelation of the Verse of Purity (Holy Qur’an 33:33) in their favour.
Insha’Allah (god willingly), we will elaborate more about the event of Mubahela and how the Christians accepted their defeat.
A day later on the 25th of Zilhijja, God Almighty revealed 18 ayahs of Surah Dahr (5 to 23) in praise of the Ahl al-Bayt, when in order to fulfill a vow, Imam Ali (AS), Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA), Imam Hasan (AS) and Imam Husain (AS), and their maid Fizza (SA) fasted for threr consecutive days without any food to break the day’s fast, since on all three evenings they gave away whatever meagre food they had to the destitute, the orphan, the freed prisoners that knocked on their door.
Take care and goodbye till next week.
