Iran: Recent Palestinian Operations ‘Legitimate’
TEHRAN – Iran on Saturday condemned a fresh wave of Zionist attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and brutal aggression against Palestinian worshipers, describing the battle against Israeli occupiers as a natural and legitimate right of Palestinians.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned repeated raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque and brutal attacks by Israeli forces on worshipers and defenders of Palestinian holy sites.
“The occupation and the occupiers are on the decline, and the struggle against the usurpers of Al-Quds and Palestine is a natural, legitimate and legal right of the Palestinian people,” he said.
Khatibzadeh touched on the escalating aggression of the Israeli apartheid regime in the occupied Palestinian territories, calling on world nations, governments and regional and international organizations to help Palestinians defend themselves.
Khatibzadeh also stressed the need for Muslim unity to defend Palestine and save Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He said normalization with the Israeli apartheid regime is one of the factors that encourage the Zionists to intensify their violence in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Al-Quds on Thursday, injuring at least 16 Palestinians and arresting dozens.
Settler incursions under the protection of Israeli troops into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound resumed after a 10-day pause during the last days of Ramadan.
