Poland, Iran National Libraries Exchange Archives

TEHRAN (IBNA) -- At a meeting with Director of the National Library and Archives, Polish ‎Ambassador to Iran Maciej Fałkowski expressed the eagerness of his country to ‎exchange archival materials and documents with Iran.‎
In the session, which aimed to boost cultural ties between Iran ‎and Poland, Mr. Fałkowski told Director of the National Library and ‎Archives Alireza Mokhtarpour Ghohroudi that it is the first official visit of the Polish embassy in the New Christian Year and this meeting coincides with the 80th ‎anniversary of the Polish refugees travel to Iran where they found a shelter, public relations department of the National Library and Archives reported.
“Iran and Poland have a valuable common historical and cultural heritage. in this regard, there are many archival and documented available sources which can also be used for the consideration of the issue of the Polish refugee’s arrival to Iran in the years 1942 and 1943,” he said.
Director of Iran’s National Library and Archives for his part congratulated the New Year and said that the arrival of the Polish people to Iran was the result of a historical event that had many cultural and social aftermaths in that period.
He referred to two former memorandums of understanding signed between the National Archives and Library of Iran and the Library and Archives of Poland and pointed out that these MoU’s should be renewed.
Mokhtarpour stressed: “We hope that through the reduction of the risk of COVID-19, librarians, experts and researchers from Iran and Poland will soon be able to travel, and by expanding relations and signing new MoU’s, cultural interactions between Iran and Poland will be improved.”
